Berlin holds an historic mark on Europe. Steeped in history, this iconic city is a must see. Known for its nightlife, architecture and art scene Berlin has plenty on offer and is the ideal place to mix a running trip with plenty of exploring to do along the way.

First held in 1985, the Berlin Half Marathon attracts around 30,000 runners every year, with a superb 200,000 spectators cheering you through the historic streets along the way.

2017 Report – Kenyans Gilbert Masai (59.57) and Joan Melly (68.45) with a personal best took the 37th edition of the Berlin Half Marathon 2017.  While Masai was among the top favourites, late-entrant Joan Melly was an unexpected winner.   34,004 runners from 106 nations entered Germany’s biggest and fastest half marathon race.

Our tips to Berlin give you the chance to feel the excitement and buzz of running a half marathon, while taking in the wonderful sights Berlin has on offer. Whether you spend your days tucking into the local cuisine and tasting the local beers, or hop on a bus and visit the Bellevue Palace, Brandenburg Gate, Berlin TV Tower and other sights on offer, there is plenty for you to do during your trip away.

A marathon race in memory of the 2011 Tohoku tsunami.

The latest race on Japan’s marathon scene is the Kyoto Marathon which was held for the first time on 11th March 2012 to mark the one year anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. The marathon aims to raise funds to support those affected by the disaster.

The race course is mainly flat and takes in seven World Heritage sights as well as a long stretch along the Kamo River. Tokyo Marathon

Tokyo is home to the 6th and newest of the World Marathon Majors. 2017 will see the 11th anniversary of the marathon and an opportunity that’s not to be missed.

The proposed course for 2017 is:  Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building – Lisabashi – Kanda – Nihonbashi – Asakusa Kaminari mon – Ryogoku – Monzen nakacho – Ginza – Takanawa – Hibiya – Tokyo Station – Gyoko dori.  The proposed finish is at the Imperial Palace.

With its blend of old and new, Tokyo provides a fantastic venue for one of the worlds greatest marathons. Options to explore are endless, the city is bursting with everything necessary to satisfy fascinations of culture vultures, history buffs, tech enthusiasts and foodies alike.

Bagan Temple, Myanmar Marathon – Marathon tour package

Duration: 5 and 6 nights Distance: Marathon, Half Marathon or 10k

The Bagan Temple Marathon, half marathon and 10k starts and finishes at Htilominlo Temple. With an early start at 06.15am, you will be ready for a an adventurous run amongst the temples.

The marathon and half marathon initially follow the same route before splitting. Around 13k for the half marathon and 35km for the marathon, you then rejoin the same route.  10k runners follow the same route as the marathon and half marathon until you reach Old Bagan where you then turn back and head towards the finish at Htilominlo Temple

Route information

The route itself is on dirt roads and asphalt, the main challenges during this race will be the combination of heat and dust.

Starting at the 800 year old Htilominlo Temple, runners will cross the plains on dirt tracks towards the ancient city of Old Bagan. Once they reach Dhammayazika Pagoda, the Half marathon and Marathon runners will diverge. Marathon runners will carry on towards New Bagan through a number of Burmese villages.

Half marathon runners will turn onto an asphalt route to the village of West Pwazaw, before turning back onto the marathon route to the finish.

After West Pwazaw village, both routes will merge back together, to be rewarded by a temple-speckled vista  for the final run along a dirt trail back towards Htilominlo Temple.
